- global travel (Super Bowl XXXIX in Jacksonville, Premiership games, NFL, NHL and NBA) to study the players up close and personal
- pro handicapping contest victories in college basketball

Long story short, I simply espouse the Boy Scout theory that you will succeed more often than not when you are prepared. Hard work never hurt anybody. Jimmy sr. always had an answer when Jimmy used to complain that "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."

True, he said. "But all play and no work makes Jack a dumb jerk."

That's why we sign off every note and every column with either "Get busy and get lucky" or "Stay busy and stay lucky." The harder you work, the luckier you get.
